The National Executive

The National Executive is comprised of the Presidents of each of the AIPI Chapters, the Honorary Treasurer and the National Secretary.

 


 

Andrew Patterson 

National President (appointed October 2021) / New South Wales Chapter President.

Andrew joined the AIPI in early 2018 and was appointed NSW Chapter President in Feb 2019 and National President on 18 October 2021.  Andrew’s professional background includes local government in internal ombudsman and governance roles, internal investigation roles in the NSW public sector, the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption, the NSW Ombudsman, and WA police where he finished his service as a detective sergeant.  For the last few years has been self-employed, working directly to clients and subcontracting to organisations.

Dean Newlan

Honorary Treasurer.

Dean is a foundation member of the AIPI (1995).  He is a past National President and Victorian Chapter President.   Dean is a consultant to McGrathNicol Forensic based in Melbourne.

Wayne Gladman

National Secretary.

Wayne is a foundation member of the AIPI (1995) and one of the driving forces behind the formation of the institute.  He has been National Secretary of the AIPI for all but two of its 22 years.  Wayne is Director of Fraud Risk Solutions.

Mark Woods

South Australia

Mark has been a member of the AIPI since 2016 and was appointed as the SA Chapter President in 2023. Mark’s background includes service in the Australian Defence Force, Federal Government and the in private sector. Mark works with clients providing investigation, security and training services.

Chantal Carr

Western Australia

Chantal joined the AIPI and the WA Committee in August 2020 and became our Chapter President in early 2024. Chantal has been a Forensic Partner and National Leader at PwC and the Forensic Partner at Deloitte Financial Advisory Pty Ltd. With over 24 years of risk management and forensic investigation experience across 20 countries, Chantal has a wealth of experience in conducting investigations, due diligence and intelligence gathering relating to fraud, bribery, corruption, and serious misconduct in the public sector, finance and insurance, consulting, energy, and resource industry.

Jason King

Queensland Chapter President

Jason is the Owner and Director of Regional Queensland Investigations based in Mackay and has over 10 years of experience leading teams and investigations in the Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police and over 12 years in the private sector with J&D Online Investigations in Victoria and Queensland. With a specialty in cybercrime, Jason and his team lead all investigations in Regional Queensland, including workplace, misconduct, corporate fraud and mining matters. Jason holds a Master’s in Law and post-graduate qualifications in IP law, which provide him with a unique perspective on all investigative matters.

Brett Katz

ACT Chapter President

Brett has devoted 15 years of his career to investigations as a Detective in the AFP,  investigating and leading teams in crime types such as organised crime, volume property offending, drug trafficking and illegal firearms. He also led initiatives within the AFP’s Investigations Standards and Practices Group, realising the organisations modern investigations management solution. As a Solutions Executive, he now manages the Law Enforcement & National Security Practice at SAS ANZ and has volunteered to use his skills, network and experience to lead the AIPI ACT Chapter.
