Asian victims lose $40m to scammers spoofing Chinese embassy phone numbers – 29 March 2019
Scammers are targeting Chinese people in Australia who are on student or working visas, peddling allegations that the recipient has outstayed their visa, had their identity stolen, or committed a crime. Victims of the scam have lost a total of over $40 million in 2 years.

The Whistling While They Work (WWTW) project, led by Professor A J Brown of the Centre for Governance and Public Policy at Griffith University, is investigating employee and managerial experience in Australia and New Zealand to identify the factors that influence good and bad responses to whistleblowing across a wide range of organisations.

NAB questioned on ‘catastrophic’ fraud oversight – 28 March 2019
The CEO of NAB (Phil Chronican) was questioned about how a $40 million fraud case went undetected for years, until a bank staff member blew the whistle. He said he was “distinctly unhappy” to learn of the alleged fraud and organisation needed much tighter approach to discipline on every element of the business.
NAB to scrap scandal-plagued Introducer Program – 25 March 2019
National Australia Bank will scrap its controversial Introducer Program, in a bid to improve its reputation after the banking royal commission. NAB’s head of broker services Anthony Waldron admitted to the commission that the Introducer Program had breached responsible lending laws — which could expose the bank to both criminal and civil charges.
