Crypto-mining apps discovered on Microsoft’s app store – 18 February 2019
Symantec a U.S company who provides cybersecurity software and services) discovered several potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) on the Microsoft Store that surreptitiously use the victim’s CPU power to mine cryptocurrency. This points to a wider trend of crypto-related cryber-crime, with increased sophistication and complexity of tactics.

Trump ex-campaigner faces jail over fraud – 16 February 2019
Paul Manafort, could spend more than 19 years in prison on tax and bank fraud charges. The potential sentence, stems from his conviction last year on eight felony counts related to an elaborate scheme to conceal from tax authorities, the millions of dollars he earned overseas from Ukrainian political consulting. It is one of two criminal cases pending against Manafort in which he faces prison time.
