Bank ‘asleep at the wheel’ as fraudster makes off with millions – 16 July 2018
A group of elderly Aussies, were swindled out of their life savings by convicted conman Bradley Sherwin, who is now serving a minimum four-year jail sentence for fraud. By the time the facts were determined and a legal case formed, only two years of fraudulent transactions were eligible for inclusion which means of the 380 victims, the settlement will only be paid to 53 of them. Many of those who lost everything they own, took their anger to the front doors of the Bank of Queensland headquarters in Brisbane.
Police busted the dark web’s $1.5 billion cryptocurrency World Cup gambling ring – 15 July 2018
Chinese officials shut down an online gambling ring that had accumulated $US1.5 billion in bets made on World Cup matches using cryptocurrencies like ethereum, bitcoin, and litecoin. The gambling ring was a pyramid scheme where recruiters could profit off of other members.
